Xiamen among China’s top ten model cities for tourism
Xiamen was selected as one of China’s top ten model cities for recreation and tourism last Thursday at the Third All-For-One Tourism Promotion Conference in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Of the cities on the list, Xiamen is the only one in Fujian Province. The other nine cities are, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Dalian, Wuhan, Yinchuan, Ningbo, Suzhou, Wuxi and Zhuhai.
These ten cities have been officially recognised by the China National Tourism Administration for their efforts in promoting and upgrading urban tourism, improving public service facilities, managing the tourism market, and success in meeting the recreational needs of tourists and local people.
In the first half of 2017, Xiamen received about 35 million tourists from home and abroad, up 14.98 percent year on year, and generated 53.446 billion yuan in tourism revenue, a year-on-year growth of 19.22 percent.
