Registered Xiamen population grows by 94,000

Xiamen's registered resident population hit 2.2 million in 2016, up by 94,000 residents year-on-year. The city's total permanent resident population reached 3.92 million, up by 60,000 residents.
Inhabitants on the island of Xiamen accounted for 56.3 percent of locally registered residents, down by four percentage points. Trends include a growing number of urban residents and a surging population in Xiamen's mainland districts.
