The Cultural Industry Fair came to a close at Xiamen International Convention and Conference Center, Fujian province on Nov 6.

The three-day fair was organized by Xiamen municipal government and Taiwan Asia-Pacific Cultural Creative Industry Association to explore the latest trends in the development of China's cultural industry.

Covering an area of 73,000 square meters, the fair housed 12 pavilions with 3,400 booths and consists of four major parts, craftworks, creative designs, digital products, films and television, and cultural innovative tourism.

Some 27 branch venues were also set up at Xiamen's key cultural enterprises and cultural industry parks, including Xiamen Antique City, Olympic Museum and Cai Family's Lacquer Thread Sculpture (a traditional handicraft used to decorate figures of Buddha).

Cross-Straits exchanges were increasingly more distinctive at the fair which contained 907 Taiwan booths accounting for one third of the total.

These Taiwan enterprises brought their exquisite cultural innovative products at the Taiwan top craftworks exhibition to show the aesthetics of everyday life.

Xu Gengxiu, director of Taiwan Craftworks Research and Development Center, said that 13 craftsmen from Taiwan showed their great works, including ceramics, lacquer wares, and wood carvings.

Taiwan cultural innovative products focus on practical utility and aesthetics in daily life, according to Xu.

The fair also established a Taiwan Youth Startup Pavilion for the first time this year which attracts 17 grownup projects involving drawing, infant toys, and jewelries.

Zeng Wanqi who runs a jewelry manual workshop and plans to seek development opportunities in Xiamen said that she can learn about Chinese mainland's market and raw materials for her jewelries so as to make preparations for her future development in Xiamen by attending the fair.

In order to improve creative designs, one of the four parts at the fair, the Red Dot Industrial Design Award, known as the Oscar of global industrial design and China Good Design Award launched by Red Dot Award institution were invited to display their finalists and award-winning designs.
