2019 South-South Cooperation Ocean Forum held in Xiamen


The 2019 South-South Cooperation Ocean Forum was held in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian province on November 2.


A total of 30 officials and scholars from Pakistan, Timor Leste, Bangladesh, Thailand, South Africa, Tanzania,Cuba, and Tonga were invited to the forum.


The attendees centered their discussion on the theme of “Promoting Marine Ecological Progress for Blue Growth”.


They also exchanged their views on Xiamen’s experience in integrated coastal management and explored the role of marine ecological progress and blue growth in promoting socio-economic development.


Shoukot Kabir Chowdhury,Upazila Fisheries Officer, Sadar, Chandpur, Bangladesh said that the forum was a great platform for South Asian countries,for it could provide them with technical support and reference.

As one of a series of forums for the ongoing 2019 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, which takes place from November 1 to 7, the event was co-sponsored by the Secretariat of World Ocean Week in Xiamen Organizing Committee, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Fujian Institute of Oceanography.
