Xiamen builds a new platform for marine industry

The 12th China (Xiamen) International Recreational Fishery and Aquarium Expo and the 6th Commercialization Fair for Marine Science and Technology Achievements opened their doors to the public in Xiamen on November 1, 2019.

 

This is the first time that these two events, which cover an exhibition area of 15,000 square meters and offer 650 standard booths for nearly 300 exhibitors, have been held in the same place at the same time.

 

The two-in-one show aims to create a new platform for marine industry matchmaking and the integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of maritime economy.

 

As important part of the World Ocean Week in Xiamen, these two exhibitions have served as an annual gathering of international marine industries to promote the integrated development of the marine economy in the coastal city of Xiamen. 


12th China (Xiamen) International Recreational Fishery and Aquarium Expo


Over the past 11years, the fishery expo has been striving to build a platform for the transformation and updating of traditional fisheries and to cultivate new growth drivers for the ocean economy of Xiamen.

 

The exhibition area consists of five sections, showcasing aquarium,sport fishing, marine entertainment, fishery culture, and recreational fishing village.

It is worth mentioning that about 200 koi carp, 300 groups of guppies, and various rare fish from Taiwan are on exhibit in the aquarium area where the 10th Hikari Cup Xiamen Koi Show and the 7th International Guppy Championship were held.


Well-received activities in the past expos, including a photo contest, an aquascaping contest, and colorful parent-child carnival activities, are also held during the three-day event. 


6th Commercialization Fair for Marine Science and Technology Achievements


The annual fair is a showcase for the city’s latest marine science and technology achievements, providing an exchange and cooperation platform for regional marine economy and trade.


The layout of this year’s fair consists of two parts. Part one refers to six areas showcasing marine bio-medicine and products area, high-end marine equipment area, high-tech marine services area, marine culture and high-end coastal tourism area, ocean-related colleges and research institutions area, and marine financial services area. Part two refers to three booths showcasing the city’s investment attracting policy on marine industry, marine high-tech achievements, and South Ocean Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base.


Local leading marine tech enterprises, marine colleges and research centers such as Xiamen Blue Bay and Xiamen University have their booths at the exhibition.


For the first time, Xiamen University exhibited 16 key achievements and held a promotional activity by  working with Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries.


These two exhibitions will last until November 3 and are open to the public for free.
