2017 South-South Cooperation Ocean Forum held in Xiamen

Co-sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Fujian Institute of Oceanography, the 2017 South-South Cooperation Ocean Forum was held at the Jingmin Central Hotel, Xiamen on November 4th.

 

More than 50 officials and marine experts from China and 13 other developing countries including Georgia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Gambia, Guinea, Rwanda, Madagascar, Mauritius, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Panama, Micronesia and Vanuatu were invited to the forum, to discuss the protection of marine ecological environment among developing countries and the development of marine economy.

 

South-South cooperation refers to development cooperation between fellow countries of the Global South. During the forum, representatives shared opinions on reducing environmental risks and prioritizing ecological protection, aiming to build up blue partnerships, share blue economy practices and promote marine cooperation among the developing countries.

 

The South-South Cooperation Ocean Forum is one of a series of  forums for the ongoing 2017 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, which takes place from November 3rd to 9th.
