Representatives of this year's World Hokkien Music Awards and Cross-Strait Hokkien Music Awards traveled to Malaysia earlier this month.

Event officials said that the awards are designed to promote cultural exchange between China and Malaysia.

The Southeast Asia finals of the event will be held  in Malaysia this year. Organiers said that event will serve to promote Minnan culture in Malaysia.

Awards founder and director Chen Fei noted that this year is the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.
