"Being the guest country of honor at the fair for the first time gives us a unique opportunity to present out investment environment," said the Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago Sta Romana during the 2020 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian province, Sept 9.

As the main foreign country having the chance to explore potential cooperation opportunities in China, the Philippines has organized a series of business environment promotions and project docking activities.

Its 400-square-meter national pavilion displayed examples of the country's investment environment, favorable business policies and quality products.

The Philippines, as a participant of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, has a large regional market for investors, said Sta Romana, adding that young and educated talents are easy to find in the country.

He noted that the Philippines is welcoming Chinese investors as Sino-Philippine ties have been improving in recent years. In 2018, China became the country's top source of approved investment.

Chinese investment, mainly in manufacturing, real estate, electricity and information, continued to increase in 2019 to account for 32 percent of the total amount of approved investment in the Philippines, said Sta Romana.

More industrial parks and economic zones will be set up in the Philippines to attract global investors, he added.

The Philippines has also designed a 3D showroom on the CIFIT online platform, which will operate throughout the year and provide businesspeople with the immersive experience of visiting online exhibitions by utilizing the latest technologies.
