The 19th World Business Leaders Roundtable, part of the 2020 China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), kicked off at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center on Sept 7.

The event focused on the application and development of artificial intelligence (AI). It invited experts from research institutions and leading enterprises to share their ideas on the integration of AI and traditional industries as well as the transformation of intelligent manufacturing.

During the event, Yuan Jing, vice president of Huawei Cloud AI Sector, described the role of AI in building smart new infrastructure which will make traditional industries smarter and more competitive in the global market.

AI is emerging as a crucial component in China’s efforts to bring about high-quality development, said Zhang Shenfeng, vice president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, in a video message.

Xiamen, one of the first special economic zones in China to implement the policy of reform and opening-up, has been working to develop AI, internet of things and smart city as it seeks to build industrial clusters for integrated circuits and flat panel displays.
