After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China, many international sister cities and organizations expressed solidarity with the city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, by offering urgently-needed medical supplies, according to local media reports on Feb 21.

The city of Netanya, Israel, and Gwangyang, South Korea sent the city a variety of anti-epidemic supplies, including surgical masks, N95 medical masks, and protective suits.

These supplies will be distributed to hospitals and fever clinics designated for the treatment of novel coronavirus pneumonia patients.

Netanya established sister-city relations with Xiamen in 2007 and has showed high levels of concern over the outbreak, rushing to offer donations to the city.

Ms. Miriam Fierberg-Ikar, Mayor of Netanya, said the city will stand with Xiamen and do all it can to help the city fight the epidemic.

Gwangyang and Xiamen began cooperating in many areas, including trade, education, travel, culture, and arts, when they first established sister-city relations in November 2007.

Representatives from Gwangyang recorded a video to show their support for Xiamen in its fight against the virus, and its mayor sent a consolation letter to the city to express his support for its people.
