Music festival marks New China's 70th anniversary
A music festival featuring famous musicians and popular songs marking New China's 70th anniversary was launched July 8 on Gulangyu Island, Xiamen, Fujian province, local media reported.
The weeklong music carnival is also celebrating Gulangyu Island being listed as a World Heritage site two years ago.
The event is being staged in three categories: a Chinese and Western fusion concert, a cross-Straits culture music show, and a show featuring Xiamen's traditional music culture.
An abundance of musical activities will offer brilliant performances all over the island from June 8 to 14.
In addition, students majoring in music will receive face-to-face instructions from world-renowned musicians during the event.
