Five-a-side soccer tourney kicks off

The summer edition of Xiamen's Five-a-side Soccer Competition opened last Saturday at the Yinyuan Soccer Park and will run through June 3. Opening ceremony attendees included Dong Fangzhuo, a former national soccer team member.
A total of 32 teams representing local companies and organizations will compete in eight groups. The tournament features a number of international players, including members of the eight-country Xiamen International Football Club team.
Hosted by the Xiamen Football Association and the West Strait Morning Post, this year's edition commemorates the 120th anniversary of the introduction of modern soccer to Xiamen.
