Seafood prices drop as fishing moratorium ends

The end of the annual summer moratorium on commercial fishing in Xiamen waters ended this month, according to maritime authorities.
A total of 523 commercial fishing boats hit the waters on August 1, heading toward areas such as the traditional Mindong and Minnan fishing grounds.
The end of the moratorium triggered a drop in local fish prices for seven of ten commercial prices tracked by the local maritime department, led by a drop of more than 20 percent for mackerel fish.
