The Santa Run took place last Saturday morning near the Marco Polo hotel. Nearly 300 participants attired as Santa Claus attended the event, which included a six-kilometer run around the Yundang Lake and the promotion of good social habits, such as not littering.

The Santa Run, which originated in Nottingham in 1987, has expanded to more than 100 cities around the world. In Xiamen, the Santa Run has been held for the last three years and appeals to both local residents and expats.

Organized by the Yundang Street Administration Committee, the Santa Run is a significant part of the Christmas Carnival held in the Yundang Community. Related events include a tree lighting ceremony for Cafe Street and the Siming International Gourmet Festival, which runs through December 25.
