Xiamen welcomes 16M visitors in January and February
Xiamen hosted 16.1 million domestic and international tourists in January and February, up more than 12 percent year-on-year. Tourists spent a collective 25.5 billion yuan in the timeframe, up by 16.2 percent from last year.
Local tourism highlights included more than 50 outstanding events in Xiamen during the Spring Festival travel season. Major draws included the Red Dot Design Museum, Gulangyu's concert series, a Xiangan Aotou fishing village art exhibit and a series of Lantern Festival activities at the 1980 Special Economic Zone Cultural Creation Park.
City tourism authorities said that daily tourist expenditures jumped this year during the Spring Festival travel season. Tourists spent a daily average of 2,925 yuan, up by almost 11 percent year-on-year.
