World-class performances to be staged in Xiamen

"Homage to Innovators of the Time"--Xue Yingjia Piano Recital

Xue Yingjia, an international award-winning pianist from Shanghai, will give a piano recital at Banlam Grand Theater on the night of December 23.

Xue will play pieces by Beethoven for the first half of the concert and then move on to music of the Romantic and Impressionistic period, playing works of Debussy and Schubert.

Turandot

Turandot is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, completed by Franco Alfano, and set to a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni.

The opera's version of the story is set in China and involves Prince Calaf, who falls in love with the cold Princess Turandot.

Tosca

Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. The work, based on Victorien Sardou's 1887 French-language dramatic play, La Tosca, is a melodramatic piece set in Rome in June 1800, with the Kingdom of Naples's control of Rome threatened by Napoleon's invasion of Italy. It contains depictions of torture, murder and suicide, as well as some of Puccini's best-known lyrical arias.
