Xiamen in Fujian province has been announced to be the host city of the next Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, the only State-level festival of its kind in China, local media reported on Nov 10.

The news was released at a ceremony between the Xiamen municipal government and the festival‘s organizer China Film Association a day after the festival was held in Foshan, South China‘s Guangdong province.

Zhang Hog, director of the festival‘s organizing committee, said at the signing ceremony that the coastal city‘s abundant cultural heritages, beautiful scenery, and sound economic and social economy are great attractions to them.

Zhang added that more importantly, the city boasts a prosperous film industry and the local government has issued many favorable policies to boost the industry‘s development in recent years.

He believed that the festival‘s extensive influence will be a surefire way of promoting the development of the city‘s cultural industry and its reputation nationwide.

Xiamen has long been a favorite place for film crews in China, with each year more than 100 film and televison crews shooting in the city.

The four-day Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, initiated in 1992 by the China Federation Of Literary And Art Circles and China Film Association, is the most influential event of its kind on the Chinese mainland, with a different city hosting the festival each year.
