The women in Xiamen, Fujian province spent nearly 800 million yuan ($115 million) on Nov 11, the largest online shopping festival in China, taking up 57 percent of the sum of local residents' consumption, local media reported.

Xiamen residents squandered 1.4 billion yuan on online shopping on a single day at e-commerce giant Alibaba Group's malls with an increase of 35 percent year-on-year, ranking second among other cities in Fujian.

Statistics from Alibaba shows that Apple products are Xiamen residents' most favorite and Apple mobile phones are particularly popular among them.

Besides, sanitary ware products, woollen coats and flat panel televisions are also their favorite products.

Bigger consumption brings about more parcels. A total of 21 million packages are expected to be dealt with in Xiamen from Nov 11 to 16, up by 30 percent year-on-year, of which 9.8 million will be delivered in the city, a 29 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to Xiamen Municipal Postal Administration.

While more efficient express service is enjoyed by Chinese consumers during the busy shopping festival since many of them can receive their parcels several hours after they place their orders.

The Double Eleven festival was devised ten years ago by Alibaba as Singles Day, an anti Valentine's day of big discounts at its e-commerce malls, and their all-day trading volume set another record with 213.5 billion yuan this year. It only took one hour 46 minutes 26 seconds for these online platforms' trading volume to exceed 100 billion yuan this year, approximately seven hours faster than last year.
