2018 International Friendship Cities Photo Exhibition opens
The opening ceremony of the 2018 International Friendship Cities "Travel·Photography" Photo Exhibition was held at the Xiamen Federation of Literary and Art Circles last Saturday.
Jointly held by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal Government, the Xiamen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Xiamen People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the exhibition aims to strengthen the cultural and artistic links among our sister cities and make Xiamen a more beautiful, culturally-advanced and cosmopolitan city.
The purpose of the exhibition is to enable our local residents to discover the charm of our sister cities as well as display the beauty of Xiamen through the lens of foreigners by showcasing the history of friendly exchanges between Xiamen and its international sister cities.
Since its launch in July 2016, the "Travel·Photography" exchange program has received active responses from many residents of our sister cities as well as participants from all sectors. Photos of the different cities were collected by organizing a series of activities including the "Post-BRICS Xiamen Tour" photography field trip.
Wellington of New Zealand sent carefully chosen "Faces" – a series of selective photos portraying people going about their daily lives while the Penang Xiamen Friendship Association came all the way from Malaysia to hold the "Penang Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Penang-Xiamen friendship city relationship.
A group of young reporters from xmenglish.cn, the city’s English portal, also attended the opening ceremony and interviewed some of the officials.
The photo exhibition will last until September 22.
