2-hour train ride to Pingtan by 2020

the travel time from Xiamen to Pingtan, an island city located off the coast of Fujian would be reduced to approximately two hours by train.


The pavement and bridge erection of the Fuzhou-Pingtan Railway was formally started on August 8 following the completion of the Guhuai Grand Bridge in Changle city, laying the foundation for the railway's opening to traffic in 2020.

 

 


By then, the travel time from Xiamen to Pingtan, an island city located off the coast of Fujian would be reduced to approximately two hours by train.

 


The 88.5 kilometers rail line has six stations, namely the stations of Fuzhou, Fuzhou South, Changle, Changle East, Songxia and Pingtan. Trains are designed to run at a speed of 160 km/h from Fuzhou to Fuzhou South, and 200 km/h from Fuzhou South to Pingtan.
