The 2018 Xiamen University Intellectual Property Summer School opened its doors on July 10, and will welcome students until July 19.

A total of 120 college students from China and overseas have enrolled to the summer school at Xiamen University to understand the new academic trends of intellectual property law in China as well as the latest developments in intellectual property protection.

The summer camp was hosted by China's State Intellectual Property Office and was organized by the Xiamen University Intellectual Property Research Institute, the National Intellectual Property Training (Fujian) Base and the Xiamen University Intellectual Property Education and Research Center.

This is the fifth consecutive time that the XMU has organized the event. The theme of this year's edition is “AI, 'The Belt and Road Initiative' and Intellectual Property Law Development”.

Senior intellectual property experts from the academic, judicial, and industrial circles from China and overseas were invited to give lectures.

Youden Lama, a visiting student from Nepal, said that this was her first trip to China and that the city of Xiamen had made a good impression on her.

She said she wanted to use the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the island and to better understand Chinese culture and the country's extensive achievements in intellectual property.
