Xiamen Cangjiang Theater announces its third Maritime Silk Road Arts Festival

Xiamen Cangjiang Theater held a press conference for its third Maritime Silk Road Arts Festival on the evening of May 10th.


According to the press conference, the festival will start this month and last until October. During this period, artists coming from eight different countries will present a total of 19 artistic performances and cultural activities.


Zhu Qian, the general manager of the Theater, said that one of the key highlights of this year’s festival is that her theater will showcase a total of 15 performances of five different plays by mainland avant-garde playwright Meng Jinghui. It will also hold a performing arts workshop and a masterclass with Meng Jinghui himself.


Ms Zhu added that the children's Choir is another one of the most anticipated performances. In its third edition, the Little Singers of Paris from France and the Trinity Boys Choir from the United Kingdom will stage an exclusive show at the Cangjiang Theater.


Launched in 2016, the Maritime Silk Road Arts Festival is an event created by Xiamen Cangjiang Theater.

 

Via the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the event aims to build a bridge for the cultural and artistic communications and exchanges between the Haicang district of Xiamen and the other countries along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.

 

 The theater will cooperate with the Haicang District Culture and Sports Bureau and the Haicang District Education Bureau to establish the Haicang Youth Arts Education Base.

During the press conference, the theater also announced that it will cooperate with the Haicang District Culture and Sports Bureau and the Haicang District Education Bureau to establish the Haicang Youth Arts Education Base and provide internships for students from Xiamen University Art College.


The theater also released other news which should delight drama fans, including a program to help rising artists, a service update notice, and the access of its official website.
