The Lantern Festival, a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar calendar, falls on March 2nd this year. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations.

To celebrate the upcoming festival, the annual lantern show is set to take place from March 2nd to 7th at Meishan Temple, an ancient temple with history of thousand years in Xiamen's Tongan district.

Accordingly, a total of 3,000 colorful lanterns handcrafted by masters and volunteers of the temple will be turned on from 6:30pm to 10:30pm during the period.

A garden party themed on Han-style clothes will be held on the opening day of the lantern show, with various festive activities such as solving riddles on the lanterns.

Besides, 30,000 serves of rice dumpling will be offered for free to citizens.
