2018-02-21

A ‘Belt and Road’ cultural tour is scheduled to begin in Xiamen on March 22nd, reported China National Radio (CNR) News.

Taking the new mode of ‘cruise+culture’, the tour will focus on the tourism route along the Silk Road Economic Belt, aiming to promote tourism industry in the whole area including Xiamen.

Xiamen, as well as Fujian, is a good choice for the country to rejuvenate ancient international routes by land and by sea, namely the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, according to the organizing committee.

Minnan or Southern Min, is the ancestral home of most overseas Chinese and has a rich marine culture. To emphasize Minnan culture provides an opportunity for overseas Minnanese to reboot emotional connection.

Costa neoRomantica, an Italian cruise ship, will undertake the mission for the cultural tour. The cruise will depart from Xiamen, make its way to Manila, Long Beach, Brunei, Sabah, and finally come back to Xiamen.

During the journey, a wide variety of cultural shows will be staged on board, including musical dramas, Nanyin music, puppet shows, and Gulangyu-themed performance. Xiamen local artists will also hit the stage.
