Xiamen population topped 4M in 2017

City officials said last week that Xiamen's permanent resident population topped four million in 2017, up by 90,000 residents and 2.3 percent year-on-year.
The city's birthrate continued to increase while its mortality rate edged downward. The city's mainland districts continued to grow. Haicang recorded a population of 356,000 while Jimei hit 674,000 residents. Tong'an climbed to 581,000 residents while Xiang'an was home to 359,000 residents.
