The qualifying rounds of the first Xiamen Children’s Capacity Competition and the Parent-Child Games were held in Huli District last weekend, December 9 and 10.

More than 1,300 preschoolers from over 80 kindergartens from the three Xiamen districts of Siming, Huli, and Haicang participated in the competition. At the same time, over 1,000 family groups competed in the parent-child sporting contest.

In the parent-child games, children are required to put clothes and shoes on their parents and work with their parents to carry balls over to a basket, collect mushrooms and to set up a house. These activities are designed to strengthen the interaction between parents and children and promote family harmony.

The children loved this event very much. One girl said the activities were interesting because she could work together with her classmates to win a trophy.

The event was highly praised by teachers and parents. A teacher said the competition was a good opportunity to cultivate children’s self-care ability and stimulate their awareness of coopetition. A parent told XMENGLISH.CN that the sports event reinforced his connection with his son.

The second qualifying round will be held in Jimei District from December 16 to 17 while the third round in Xiang’an will take place on December 23. All qualifying teams will compete in the finals on January 6, 2018.

The event was organized by Xiamen Academy of Educational Science, XMNN.CN, and Jiaoqu, a local educational information platform.
