Costa Fortuna Xiamen Maiden Call ceremony held

October 18th, a ceremony was held in the Xiamen Dongdu international cruise terminal to mark the Costa Fortuna’s Xiamen Maiden Call. It is the only luxury cruise ship over 100,000 tons to depart from Xiamen this year.

 

From October 18th to November 7th, the cruise ship will make a 21-day trip, that will comprise of a total of five voyages, which include two voyages contracted by companies and three return voyages lasting five days and four nights from Xiamen to Okinawa, the Yaeyama Islands and Miyako-jima.

 

The Costa Fortuna is 272.2 meters long and 35.5 meters wide and has a capacity of 3,470 passengers, It is inspired by the great historical cruise ships and the shipping history of Italy in particular. The ship displays art, paintings, boats and antiques from different periods, incorporating the elements of art and marine navigation. One of the design themes pays tribute to the renaissance and the Italian style of design, imbued in a  European cultural and artistic atmosphere makes it like a "Maritime Museum."

 

"As one of the four major cruise harbors in China, Xiamen has obvious advantages and great potential to further develop cruise tourism,” said Ye Peng, the vice president of sales in China from Carnival Cruise. As the first international cruise company to enter China, the Costa Fortuna has opened a number of routes visiting southern ports in recent years.
