A media delegation, made up of 11 journalists from mainstream media in West Asia and North Africa, toured China's Fujian province from Oct 12 to 15.

The aim of the visit and tour was to learn about the province's economic development, international exchanges and progress in key battles to eradicate poverty.

Xiamen, coastal city of Fujian province, was the last stop of the delegation's visit. During their stay in Xiamen from Oct 14 to 15, they visited Xiamen-based photo retouch app developer Meitu Inc, Guanren residential community in the city's Siming district and Yuanqian community of Qingjiao village in the city's Haicang district, which is the first Fujian-Taiwan ecological and cultural village in Xiamen.

Han Jingyi, vice mayor of Xiamen, extended a warm welcome to the foreign journalists and briefed them on his city's economic and social development.

Designated as one of the earliest special economic zones in China, Xiamen has been pushing forward the development of export-oriented economy since the reform and opening-up, Han said, adding that Xiamen has become a beautiful garden city known for its innovation and entrepreneurship.

The journalists marveled at the pace and progress of Xiamen's development, and agreed that the city is the epitome of China's reform and opening-up endeavor.

Officials in attendance at relevant activities included Yao Jianhong, deputy head of the Xiamen foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office.
