Oey Tjeng Sit works on display at CEAC

The China European Art Center recently opened a solo exhibition featuring works by the late artist Oey Tjeng Sit (Huang Qingshi).

Mr. Sit was born in Java and later moved to the Netherlands, opening Oey Pharmacy in Amsterdam in 1958. He took away the pills and potions out of the window display and started a small art gallery there. One of his nicknames was a “Dragon Man with a Dada Passion”.

He also showed the art work of colleagues and friends which gave him another epithet: “the nestor of Amsterdam window art".

The exhibition will go through October 28 and admission is free.
