XMU international students make mooncakes for local sanitation workers: Meaningful cultural experience


On October 5th, more than 40 overseas students from Xiamen University gathered in East Coastal Area Torch Industrial Park, Tong’an district of the coastal city of Xiamen to make mooncakes with a local volunteer service team for local sanitation workers.


"It is really interesting. Before the National Day holiday I proposed  the activity on the WeChat. I  was surprised that more than 40 people enrolled within two days.There are45 participants in total, including me," said Muniu, a student from People's Republic Of Bangladesh,who is also the person responsible for the activity .

"Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!" Michael, a tall  Czech boy, slightly bent down to hand a box of mooncakes  to a female sanitation worker. Michael said the activity  was meaningful to him, and he likedtraditional Chinese festivals very much.

Chen Yongmiao, leader of the volunteer team and one of main organizers of the event, said,the volunteers had  been doing similar public welfare activities all the timeand they would  strengthen exchanges and cooperation with overseas students in the  future.
