2017 Art Amoy Art Fair to open May 19-21

From May 19-21, the 2017 Art Amoy Art Fair will be held at Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center. More than 10,000 artworks will be exhibited during the fair with a series of related activities such as academic forum and auction.

Teng Li, an official with Art Amoy, said that they aim to forge the fair as one of the top-class art fairs in Asia, as well as to promote the cultural and artistic atmosphere of Xiamen.

As the 3rd edition of Art Amoy, this year’s fair will showcase over thousands of art pieces created by various artists in  a total exhibit area of 21,000 square meters.

It is said that the 2017 fair will set up three main exhibition halls: contemporary art pavilion, contemporary classic pavilion and auction pavilion. Meanwhile, a series of thematic exhibitions will be held such as Xiamen Contemporary Art Fair,  China Central Academy of Fine Arts Young Artists Special Exhibition ,  Young  Artists  Exhibition, and World  Female  Art  Exhibition. Over 130 exhibitors  from China, America, Spain, Russia, Japan and South Korea are expected to take part in the fair.

The event will presents a number of masterworks.  Miguel Marcos, an art gallery from Spain, will bring  original manuscripts of Picasso. At the same time, works by famous Chinese artists including Zhang Daqian, Wu Guanzhong, Lin Fengmian, Li Keran, especially Xiamen local artists Chen Wenling, and Cai Guoqiang, will also be on display.

The organizing committee of the art fair revealed that the volume of transaction last year exceeded 155.6 million yuan. In 2017, the fair will attract participants from  famous auction companies at home and abroad. In addition, the first Global Collectors Festival will be held and over 10,000 entrepreneurs and buyers will be invited to  boost the matchmaking between art and capital .

Coincidentally, the year of 2017 is just the centenary of the birth of Zhang Ding(1917-2010), one of key pioneers and leaders of  the reformation of traditional mountain-water painting in new China. In order to further promote Mr. Zhang’s artistic thought,  the opening ceremony of 2017 Art Amoy Art Fair and Zhang Ding Centenary Exhibition  will be held on the morning of May 19 and a forum will be held in the afternoon to honor the great artist. Besides, Zhang Ding Art Gallery, China’s first private museum of Zhang Ding’s art, will be established in Xiamen.
