3 foreign experts from Haicang receive Egret Friendship Award

On the morning of March 23, Haicang District hosted a tea party for three foreign experts who were awarded with this year’s Egret Friendship Award. They are Yamamoto Yoshio, Shirakawa Akira and American Chinese Zheng Limou. All three of them have contributed to the development of Haicang District in their respective fields.

In recent years, with the opening-up and reform of Xiamen, its international communications are becoming more and more frequent. What’s more, a growing number of  foreigners are willing to come to this city for business and life. The Egret Friendship Award is an award to encourage and commend foreign experts who make outstanding contributions through their work. It was established in 2004 and is held once every two years.

It is reported that a total of six people from Haicang District have received the Egret Friendship Award award. These high-level talents have played a leading role in speeding up the development of regional industries, fostering economic and cultural exchanges and enhancing internationalisation.

The awarded experts expressed their gratitude to Haicang District and said that the area has great potential as an environment for investment, adding, "We love Haicang, We love Xiamen."

As the earliest and largest Taiwanese investment zone in China, Haicang has tried its best to attract talents from all over the world since the beginning of  its construction. So far, Haicang has already brought in 213 high-level innovation and entrepreneurial talents, ranking first in the total amount of high-level talent in Fujian Province.

　  23日上午，海沧区举行2016-2017年度海沧外籍专家白鹭友谊奖祝贺茶会。这三位专家分别是来自日本的山本喜夫、白川彰彦，和美籍华人郑立谋。他们三人，都在各自的领域对海沧区的发展作出了贡献。

 
　　近年来，随着厦门对外开放不断向纵深拓展，国际交往日益频繁，越来越多的外籍人才愿意到厦门创业和生活。“白鹭友谊奖”，是厦门市为了鼓励和表彰应邀来厦门工作的国外专家在工作中作出突出贡献而专门授予的奖项，设立于2004年，每两年评选一次。

 
　　据了解，目前海沧区已先后有6人获得“白鹭友谊奖”殊荣，这些高层次人才对促进区域产业发展、经贸文化交流、城市国际化水平提升发挥了积极的促进作用。本次获得此殊荣的三位外籍专家表示，海沧是一片创业热土，他们热爱厦门，热爱海沧。

 
　　作为全国设立最早、面积最大的台商投资区，海沧自投资区建设之初，就面向全国“不惟地域引进人才、不求所有开发人才、不拘一格用好人才”。截至目前，海沧区累计引进高层次创新创业人才213名，高层次人才总量居福建省各县区之首。
