1st ( Xiamen ) Recreational Angling Competition starts

The 9th China (Xiamen) International Recreational Fishing & Aquarium Expo (XRFAE) will take place in the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Centre between Oct. 28-30. The 1st Xiamen Recreational Angling Competition, one of the related activities of this Expo, has already started.

The scoring of the preliminary round was based upon the total weight of fish that each competitor baited. All species of fish were counted but they had to be more than 20cm in length. Garbage was also regarded as an assessment criteria. In order to protect the marine environment, every contestant needed to take their trash back otherwise they would be disqualified.

At present, there are about 100 million recreational angling fans in China, including 50,000-60,000 amateurs in Xiamen alone. Recently, the China Recreational Angling Association officially opening an office in Xiamen, the first time such a state-level community has set up a separate representative office in Xiamen.

This year’s XRFAE will be hosted by the China Recreational Angling Association, China Fisheries Association, Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries and the Xiamen Municipal Government and it will be jointly undertaken by the Ocean & Fisheries Bureau of Xiamen and Xiamen Valuedshow Co., Ltd.
