The IFSC Climbing World Cup, one of the top climbing competitions in the world, will take place in the Tefang Portman Wealth Centre in Xiamen. The cup will bring together hundreds of rock climbing masters from more than 20 countries and regions  to compete over four events.

Before entering the Olympic Games, rock climbing's top two world competitions are the IFSC World Championships and the IFSC Climbing World Cup. The IFSC Climbing World Cup has four races in China this year which will take place in Chongqing, Nanjing, Wuhu and Xiamen. The race in Xiamen will be hosted by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and be undertaken by Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Sports and the Tefang Group.

The organisation of the IFSC World Cup is similar to the FIA Formula One World Championship, with races being held all over the world. Four races will be held in Xiamen Station, namely the Women’s Lead, Women’s speed, Men’s Lead and Men’s speed races.

Janja Garnbret, who is at the top of the women's world rankings, is regarded as the favourite to win in Xiamen Station. Zhong Qixin, who has won four World Cup championships, will lead the Chinese athletes competing with the foreign players.

Although this will be the first time that Xiamen has hosted a world-class rock climbing competition, the Xiamen Tefang Group successfully held the National Rock Climbing Competition this June, which attracted about 70 players from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tibet, Hong Kong and Macao, amongst other regions.
