2016-08-25

The construction of Haicang’s new integrated transportation hub, a key section of Xiamen’s traffic network, is progressing well with the pile foundation construction now completed. The open tendering process for the construction company is also now complete and the earthwork excavations and the foundation’s supporting structure are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Located at the junction of Zhonglin Road and North Zhonglin Road, the integrated transportation hub covers an area of 188,000 square meters surrounded by North Hubin Road, Nanhai 3rd Road, Xinggang Road and Haicang Road. Construction began on October 31st 2015, and it aims to provide parking services for long-distance buses, city buses, taxis, P+R (park and ride) traffic, as well as housing businesses and offices.

The integrated transportation hub consists of three underground floors with the bus transfer hall, taxi and rail transportation halls on the B1 floor and parking lots for private vehicles on the B2 and B3 floors. The superstructure is planned for business, offices and dormitories.

What is more, Line 2 of Xiamen Metro from Wuyuan Bay to Haicang is to run under the transportation hub, making it particularly convenient to transfer between long-distance passenger transportation, buses, taxis and metro, said the manager of the project.
