Operation schedule of Xiamen Metro unveiled

The construction schedule of Xiamen Metro has been unveiled, according to which the phase one projects of Lines 3 and 4 are now fully operative. Construction of Xiamen Metro Line 6, which will run via Maluan Bay is planned to begin by the end of the year and go into trial runs by November 2021.

10 billion yuan has been allocated to the construction of Xiamen Metro this year, of which 4.678 billion yuan has already been sunk to Lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 during the January to May period, exceeding the expected progress by 54.6%.

[Line 1]

The first train is planned to arrive in Xiamen in October.

By the end of this year, the main structure of the stations on Line 1 and the tunnels in between them will all be completed with 95% of the track laid, gearing up for the first train coming by the end of October. The first test run is scheduled for October 2017 and at the beginning of 2018, Line 1 of Xiamen Metro will come into service.

To date, 12.544 billion yuan has been invested on the construction of Line 1, representing 54.1% of the total investment. The main structures of 18 of the 24 stations have been completed, while the remaining 6 stations, Zhenhai Road Station, Zhongshan Park Station, Jiangjunci Station, Wenzao Station, Yuanboyuan Station and Jimei Center Station, are still under construction. The total length of Line 1 is 39.86 km.

[Line 2]

All stations will begin construction by the end of 2016.

The construction of Line 2 connecting Hubin North Road and Lvling Road will go into full swing during the second half of the year. There will be 32 stations on Line 2 and the main structure of one of them, Haicang Road Station, has already been completed. The affiliated project is planned to start by the end of this year with 556.5 meters of the left-line shield section advanced stretching around 200 meters into the sea, as well as 321 meters of the right-line shield section advanced extending around 36 meters into the sea.

The excavation and main structure construction of 5 stations has begun while the envelope building of a further 10 stations have also begun. 0.75 km of the tunnelling has been completed, accounting for 1% of the total 26 shield section.

3.8 billion yuan is scheduled to be invested on the construction of Line 2, of which 2.467 billion yuan has already been spent from January to May, amounting to 64.9% of the total. Construction of Line 2 is expected to start by the end of the year, and hopefully, trial runs will be conducted in July, 2019.

[Line 3 and Line 4]

To be fully operative during the second half.

The phase one project of Line 3 and Line 4 is now speeding up and will go into full operation during the second half of the year, with trial runs taking place in December, 2020.

[Line 6]

The prep work of Line 6 started at the beginning of the year and the feasibility study report has recently been completed and the construction of the section passing Maluan Bay is scheduled to start by the end of the year, with trial runs taking place in November, 2021.
