Port of Xiamen embraces summer cruise season

The Voyager of the Seas, the Superstar Libra, the Sapphire Princess and the Ovation of the Seas, all of them top-level international cruise liners, have docked in Xiamen for servicing between June 17th to 19th, starting a thriving summer for cruises. This is further evidence that Xiamen Cruise Homeport can rightfully be considered as one of Asia’s new state-of-the-art harbours providing world-leading serviced berths for  cruise liners.

The Port of Xiamen Holding Group has been concentrating on innovation in the past few years in order to expand the number of cruise liners, of different sizes, that use the port. The Xiamen International Cruise Homeport Group, a subsidiary of the Port of Xiamen Holding Group, is becoming a tourist industry service provider, which aims to increase local growth in the cruise ship industry in line with the economic development of Xiamen City.

Cruise ship owners have recognised the dynamic business environment of the Xiamen cruise ship industry and have highly praised the service of the Port of Xiamen, the tourist department and the Port of Xiamen Holding Group.
 
For instance, on June 18th company managers expressed that the Sapphire Princess was determined to make Xiamen its development platform in Southern China as well as their third homeport after arriving in the country.

As well as the Sapphire Princess and the Superstar Libra, The Legends of the Seas and the Costa Fortuna will also operate from Xiamen, making this summer extremely busy for the cruise homeport. It is expected that in 2016 a total of up to 75 cruise ships will berth at Xiamen Cruise Homeport with a passenger throughput of more than 180,000.
