Spring market gains popularity

2016-03-30

The rain finally ended last weekend in Xiamen after raining for successive 17 days.

A spring fair kicked off on Sunday at the TCG Galleria on Hubinnan Road. More than two dozens booths were set up by expats to sell handmade food, drinks, organic skincare products and jewelry. Expat and local dance troupes also performed at the event.

Inside the TCG Galleria, three exhibitions are running simultaneously, including the Organism painting exhibition by Ahel from Crotia, the Hulu experimental art exhibition by Nasong Zhang, and The Inklings watercolor exhibition curated by Weijie Zhuang.

Markets run by expats are popular in many large Chinese cities, like the one at Jiashan Road of Shanghai. Every other Saturdays, expats present locally produced food, drinks and artisanal products.

In recent years expat markets appeared in Xiamen and are gaining popularity.
