Xiamen tops in Fujian for foreign investment

2017-03-16

City officials announced last week that Xiamen attracted more foreign investment than any other Fujian city during the first two months of 2017. The city drew over $1 billion of contracted foreign investment, accounting for more than half of Fujian's contracted foreign investment. The city's $560 million of actual foreign investment was 39 percent of the provincial total, up 6.8 percent year-on-year.

Xiamen's manufacturing industry drew $470 million of contracted foreign investment and $300 million dollars of actual foreign investment. Top-drawing companies included LeadcoreIC, Meitu Tech and TPK Chenzhan.

In Xiamen, nearly half of the investment went to entities operating in the region's free trade zone. The FTZ is home to 99 newly-established foreign-invested enterprises that attracted $470 million of contracted foreign investment. The vast majority of the new firms are joint ventures.
